The Chinese auto industry has pleased the brand new BYD Dolphin EV, which looks not only fashionable and stylish, but even futuristic. Compact, moderately powerful, beautiful, with refined curves of its forms. The electric car presented at the Shanghai Motor Show immediately attracted attention. In fact, the design strongly resembles a yacht, seriously! And this was confirmed by the chief designer of the manufacturing company, who was personally involved in the development of the appearance of this model. The design is officially named nautical style. The Chinese electric car of 2022 is focused on the youth segment of consumers who love to travel.

The model is based on the platform from BYD “e-Platform 3.0”. Hence the new emblem in the shape of the letter “E”. By the way, the official name of the model EA1 Haitun – which translates as “Dolphin”. Chinese cars of 2022.

The front end has a massive bumper, there is no perforation for the radiator grille, there is also a frame for the number plate on the bumper. Headlights of an interesting shape, small but powerful. The back is more massive.

There will be a small 13-inch screen in the middle of the dashboard, as well as a drum-type keyboard, oddly enough. The console is curved, almost empty, but, perhaps, when assembling a premium configuration, this void will be filled with newfangled Chinese gadgets, because we all know how the Chinese love to do this.

The roof can be either standard or panoramic, transparent, but both options imply that this body segment is made in black. It is also worth noting that even the German concern BMW in its electric vehicles cannot boast of such characteristics, in terms of power supply and power. And this once again confirms that China can create really cool electric cars, with not only a unique design, but also quite impressive characteristics.

The battery capacity in the minimum configuration is 30.7 kWh, and in the middle and maximum configuration – 44.9 kWh. It uses a lithium-iron-phosphate battery built using proprietary BYD Blade technology. The battery has both cooling and heating. When fully charged, according to the manufacturer, a maximum range of 301 km (according to the NEDC cycle) for a car with a 30.7 kWh battery or a maximum range of 405 km (according to the NEDC cycle) for a car with a 44.9 kW battery* h. The car has two connectors for DC fast charging and AC slow charging.

The electric motor in the minimum configuration develops a power of 95 hp. (70 kW), and in the maximum power of 176 hp is already achieved. (130 kW), which allows you to accelerate from 0 to 50 km / h in just 3.9 s and 3 s, respectively. The car uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor.
This is the company’s first car to have an 800-volt platform, so they did a great job on it.

The car is produced in a hatchback body and has the following overall dimensions:
