2022 AION Y

The GAC automotive group created a new brand called Aion back in 2018. In the same year, the new department immediately introduced its first electric 5-seat sedan, the Aion S, which began sales in 2019. And last 2020, it was joined by the 4.6-meter Aion V SUV. Now, GAC is expanding its lineup with the no less interesting Aion Y crossover.

Judging by the style of GAC Aion Y, it is addressed to young buyers. The electric car received orange accents on the body and wheels, stylish front optics with vertical DRLs, wide wheel arches with plastic lining, hidden door handles and original wheels. In terms of dimensions, the model is similar to the Volvo XC40.

The length of the Aion Y is 4.41 meters and is comparable to the Volvo XC40, although the wheelbase of this “Chinese” at 2.75 meters is 5 cm longer. The customer can choose from three different battery packs: the smallest with 60 kWh will provide a range of 410 km in NEDC, and the 70 kWh battery will provide 500 km. The top version is equipped with an 80 kWh battery, which can cover 600 km. The 60 kWh Aion Y has a 136 hp electric motor.

The interior of the Aion Y is relatively minimalistic, with a large multimedia screen and digital instrumentation. The central display of about 14.5 inches has a horizontal orientation. Aion Y has the ability to work semi-autonomously, 5G connectivity and can scan the faces of its passengers and then adjust certain settings.

In length, the novelty reaches 4410 mm, in width – 1870 mm, in height – 1645 mm, and the wheelbase is 2750 mm. The Aion Y aims to make the most of interior space with its long wheelbase, which is mostly displayed on the second row legroom. In addition, it has a seat configuration that allows you to create a completely flat surface for comfortable lying. The cabin has a 100% digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch screen for the infotainment system. It could also feature a panoramic roof and 5G connectivity, among others.
