Founded in 2019, the JMEV joint venture between the French Renault Group and the Chinese Jiangling Motors Corporation Group (JMCG) has launched its cheapest electric train, the EV2 Little Kirin subcompact hatchback, whose name means “little unicorn” in Russian.
The JMEV EV2 Little Kirin aims to take on China’s wildly popular Wuling urban electric cars, but differs from them with more conventional proportions, a pro-European design, and front-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive. Overall length of the “little unicorn” – 3500 mm, width – 1646 mm, height – 1460 mm, wheelbase – 2340 mm. The maximum return of the electric motor located in front is 26 kW (35 hp) and 84 Nm. The maximum speed is 100 km/h.
The battery capacity is 15.86 kWh, a full charge is enough for 175 km of run on the Chinese CLTC cycle. Curb weight – 930 kg. Curiously, the rear suspension of the EV2 Little Kirin is dependent, with a Panhard stabilizing link. The rear brakes are drum.
In the basic configuration in the interior of the JMEV EV2 Little Kirin, instead of a multimedia screen, there is only a simple radiogram with two speakers and a USB port. In addition, standard equipment includes two frontal airbags, air conditioning and parking sensors front and rear.
